લંડનઃ સ્થાનિક કાઉન્સિલો કેર હોમ્સની ફી ચૂકવી નહિ શકતાં વૃદ્ધ લોકો પાસેથી દર સપ્તાહે ૧૦૦થી વધુ મિલકતો જપ્ત કરી લે છે. સ્થાનિક સત્તાવાળાઓ સારસંભાળનાં ખર્ચની ચૂકવણી કરવા ઈનકાર કરતા હોવાથી પરિવારજનોને તેમની મિલકતો આપી દેવાની ફરજ પડે છે. દર વર્ષે આશરે ૩૦,૦૦૦થી ૪૦,૦૦૦ લોકો આ રીતે પોતાની મિલકતો ગુમાવી
રહ્યા છે.

Colombo: Diplomat Erik Solheim has rejected Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa's allegation that Norway and he in particular were "funding" the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. Solheim, who was Norway's key facilitator in the Colombo-Tamil rebels peace process and is a former minister of international development, has said that Norway "financed neither the LTTE in general nor its military operations" in particular. He added that Rajapaksa himself was fully aware of Norway's entire engagement with the Tamil rebels, and had even requested him to communicate with the Tigers.

લંડનઃ આવતા સપ્તાહે ૧૬થી ૧૮ ઓક્ટોબર દરમિયાન રાજધાની લંડનમાં આયોજિત ત્રિદિવસીય રીજિયોનલ પ્રવાસી ભારતીય દિવસ (RPBD) અધિવેશનની તમામ ટિકિટ્સ વેચાઈ ગઈ છે. ભારતના વિકાસમાં દરિયાપારના ભારતીય સમુદાયના પ્રદાનને નજરમાં રાખીને ૨૦૦૩થી દર વર્ષે નવ જાન્યુઆરીએ પ્રવાસી ભારતીય દિવસ ઊજવાય છે. આવતા વર્ષે તે ગુજરાતના પાટનગર ગાંધીનગરમાં ઊજવાશે. ઓવરસીઝ ઈન્ડિયન અફેર્સ મંત્રાલય દ્વારા વિદેશમાં યોજાતું અધિવેશન માત્ર ભારતીય સમુદાય માટે નહિ, પરંતુ યુકે અને યુરોપ સાથે ભારતના વધતાં સંબંધોમાં સામેલ થવા રસ ધરાવતી તમામ વ્યક્તિઓ માટે છે. અધિવેશનમાં એકાદ હજારથી વધુ ડેલિગેટ્સ આવવાની ધારણા છે.

London: Transport secretary Patrick McLoughlin has urged families to do their Christmas shopping now because a shortage of lorry drivers has raised fears that there could be empty shelves in the shops. Thousands of drivers have quit over the past few months following a new European Union rule forcing them to go for expensive training. Though he did not see any problem in the next six weeks, but to be on the safe side advised the families to do their shopping now.

London: Most parents believe that leaving a child home alone under the age of 12 should be made a criminal offence. A poll found that two thirds want the government to set a legally binding minimum age limit. Most say that the current situation, in which families judge for themselves when it is safe to leave a child, is inadequate.

લંડનઃ પબ્લિક હેલ્થ ઈંગ્લેન્ડ (PHE)ના ટીબી ઈન ધ યુકે વાર્ષિક રિપોર્ટ અનુસાર લંડનમાં ટીબીના કેસીસમાં થોડો ઘટાડો થયો છે.આમ છતાં, તેનું પ્રમાણ હજુ ચિંતાજનક છે. વર્ષ ૨૦૧૨ના નોંધાયેલાં ૩,૪૦૩ ટીબી કેસીસની સરખામણીએ ૨૦૧૩માં કુલ ૨,૯૫૮કેસીસ નોંધાયા હતાં.
