This week I had lunch with the Swedish ambassador at his residence. To my right was the ambassador, and to my left was a professor in mathematics from Oxford University of Swedish heritage. One of the things we discussed is how to attract more talented entrepreneurs from Sweden to the United Kingdom.

Adani Enterprises and Abu Dhabi-based International Resources Holding (IRH) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Odisha government to develop a greenfield aluminium project worth $11.5 billion (Rs 1.08 lakh crore) (£8.5 billion).

The project will be developed through a 50:50 joint venture between Adani Enterprises and IRH, marking the Adani Group's entry into the aluminium sector. Expected to be Odisha's largest foreign direct investment proposal, the project includes a 4 MMTPA alumina refinery in Rayagada, a 2 MMTPA aluminium smelter, a 4,000 MW captive power plant and a downstream manufacturing park in Sundargarh.

પુસ્તકોના જાદુ વિશે અનેક જાણીતી હસ્તીઓએ પોતાના વિચારો રજૂ કર્યા છે. કોઇ કહે છે કે પુસ્તકો વિનાનો રૂમ એટલે આત્મા વિનાનું શરીર. તો કોઇ કહે છે કે, વિચારોના યુદ્ધમાં પુસ્તકો જ સાચા શસ્ત્રો છે. એક પુસ્તકના પાના ફેરવો તો તેમાં તમને દરેક પ્રકારની લાગણીઓનો અનુભવ થાય. પોર્ટુગલના લિસ્બન શહેરમાં આવેલી એક દુકાનમાં આવો જ ખજાનો સચવાયો છે.

બાઓબાબ એવી વૃક્ષ પ્રજાતિ છે જેનું અસ્તિત્વ માનવ સભ્યતા અને મહાદ્વીપોના વિભાજન કરતાં પણ પહેલાં લગભગ 20 કરોડ વર્ષ પૂર્વે હોવાનું માનવામાં આવે છે. આ વૃક્ષ તેના વિશાળ થડ માટે બહુ જાણીતું છે.

ભારત-પાકિસ્તાનના સંબંધો સુધારવા માટે બંને દેશોની 117 હસ્તીઓએ વડાપ્રધાન નરેન્દ્ર મોદી અને પાકિસ્તાન પીએમ શાહબાઝ શરીફને પત્ર લખ્યો છે. તેમાં કહેવામાં આવ્યું છે કે, સંઘર્ષ નહીં, વાતચીતનો માર્ગ પસંદ કરો, જેથી દક્ષિણ એશિયામાં શાંતિ અને વિકાસનું વાતાવરણ બની શકે.
