‘લિકર કિંગ’ વિજય માલ્યા ભીંસમાંઃ ભારતે પાસપોર્ટ રદ કર્યો 27/04/2016 6:13 am Mukesh Patel ભારતની ૧૭ જેટલી સરકારી અને ખાનગી બેન્કોનું રૂ. ૯,૦૦૦ કરોડનું ફુલેકું ફેરવીને દેશ છોડી ગયેલા ‘કિંગ ઓફ ગુડ ટાઇમ્સ’ વિજય માલ્યાને ભીંસમાં લેવા તંત્ર દોડતું થયું છે. અબજો રૂપિયાનું દેવું ચૂકવવામાં ઠાગાઠૈયા કરતાં માલ્યાને બેન્કોએ વિલફુલ ડિફોલ્ટર જાહેર કર્યા બાદ હવે ભારત સરકારે તેનો પાસપોર્ટ રદ કર્યો છે. બીજી તરફ, માલ્યાનું રાજયસભાનું સભ્યપદ રદ કરવા પણ કાર્યવાહી શરૂ થઇ છે. રાજ્યસભાની એથિક્સ કમિટીએ વિજય માલ્યાનું સભ્યપદ રદ કરવા ભલામણ કરી છે. કમિટીએ આ સંદર્ભે વિજય માલ્યાને નોટિસ મોકલીને એક અઠવાડિયાની અંદર જવાબ આપવા માટે જણાવ્યું છે. માલ્યાના સંસદસભ્ય પદ અંગે ત્રીજી મેના રોજ નિર્ણય લેવામાં આવશે. માલ્યાને બેંકોએ વિલફુલ ડિફોલ્ટર જાહેર કર્યા છે અને સાંસદ બનવાની યોગ્યતામાં ડિફોલ્ટર ન હોવું તે પણ એક શરત છે. આમ આ મુદ્દો સંસદની એથિક્સ કમિટીને સોંપાયો છે.
Tina Patel: Formed Architects 25/04/2016 2:53 pm Sunetra Senior “When it comes to architecture,” Tina the co-founder of emerging architects and designers ‘Formed Architects’ told us, “the conceptualisation process - asking how can I accomplish this? – can be as fascinating as standing in front of the end-product itself.” We were discussing Tina’s childhood inspirations – the Taj Mahal and the pyramids of Egypt – but focussing on the intellectualising aspect of the trade seems to be what gives ‘Formed Architects’, a residential development practice, its USP: “aesthetics meet pragmatism when we’re working with the customer to create their dream home,” Tina elaborated. “The design aspect is important, but there must be functionality; attention to concrete details always comes first. There is no point having a beautiful exterior, for example, when the inside is going to turn out pokey. Visualisation is ongoing and interlocked with the mathematics and nitty gritty challenges of the whole project.” This drive for design and her worldly curiosity has been underlying throughout Tina's life. Her resolve to become an architect since she was a small girl has materialised in adult years through such accomplishments as the Shepard Robson Design Award, given to her at graduate level, and more recently as design winner of the ‘Flitched Yard’ social community project, which required candidates to use recycled materials to create an inspiring and individualistic space. This has, to date, included pop up cinemas, manual workshops and cosy gatherings for local talks. As free-spirited as she is a problem solver then, Tina’s integrated approach is the corner stone of her company’s success. Suddenly the name ‘Formed Architects’ takes on a humanistic meaning. As we rounded up our conversation, the experienced designer added: “it is important to be ready for patience in this business. ‘Formed Architects’ has been running for about 5 years, and it is only now we’re at a point where we can put forward potential projects to the national architectural press. Treat your business as if it’s your baby. Take care of it, and keep feeding it industry knowledge; give it the time that it deserves.”
આઇપીએલ રંગ જમાવે છેઃ ગુજરાત લાયન્સની આગેકૂચ 27/04/2016 6:23 am Mukesh Patel બ્રેન્ડન મેક્કુલમ અને ડ્વેન સ્મિથની આક્રમક શરૂઆત બાદ દિનેશ કાર્તિકની અણનમ અર્ધી સદીની મદદથી ગુજરાત લાયન્સે રોયલ ચેલેન્જર્સ બેંગલોરને છ વિકેટે પરાજય આપ્યો હતો. રવિવારે રમાયેલી રોમાંચક મેચમાં વિરાટ કોહલીની આઈપીએલમાં પ્રથમ સદી અને લોકેશ રાહુલની પ્રથમ અર્ધી સદીની મદદથી રોયલ ચેલેન્જર્સ બેંગલોરે બે વિકેટ ગુમાવી ૧૮૦ રન કર્યા હતા. આના જવાબમાં ગુજરાત લાયન્સે ૧૯.૩ ઓવરમાં ચાર વિકેટના ભોગે લક્ષ્યાંક હાંસલ કર્યો હતો. ગુજરાત લાયન્સની આ જીતે કોહલીની સદી પર ભલે પાણી ફેરવી દીધું હોય પણ સદી ફટકારવા બદલ કોહલી મેન ઓફ ધ મેચ જાહેર થયો હતો.
