Diane was born in London in 1953. She attended the grammar school Harrow County and then went on to Newnham College Cambridge where she obtained a Masters degree in history.

Professor Boulton is a graduate of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and subsequently trained in Sheffield, and Miami prior to accepting an appointment at Manchester University. He has authored more than 450 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters, mainly on diabetic lower limb and renal complications. Among his many awards, he has received the ADA’s Roger Pecoraro Lectureship, the EASD Camillo Golgi prize and was the first recipient of the international award on diabetic foot research. He was the 2008 winner of the ADA’s Harold Rifkin award for distinguished international service in diabetes. Most recently he received the 2012 Georgetown distinguished achievement award in diabetic limb salvage.

Sarju Raikundalia, aged 38, is the Managing Director of Kerala Ayurveda Centre which was founded in 2008. After graduating with a first class degree in Mathematics he went on to work in blue chip companies and qualify as an Accountant. Sarju first encountered Kerala Ayurveda Centre after exhausting conventional treatment for whiplash sustained in a car accident. Initially, dismissive of his mum’s recommendation that he try Kerala Ayurveda, Sarju was astounded by the results. Years later, married with children he founded the first Kerala Ayurveda Centre in Leicester to bring proven benefits of authentic Ayurveda to the UK.

Mr Bhaliya, the son of a small farmer, is post graduate in Agriculture. He did his M.Sc. (Agri.) from Gujarat Agricultural University, Junagadh, India, in 1981. He was University first and gold medallist in Agricultural Economics. He is also professionally CAIIB. He worked as Assistant Professor in Agriculture University at Junagadh till December 1983 and published more than 25 articles in the area of Agriculture. In December 1983, he joined Bank of Baroda as Agriculture officer and worked in number of Bank of Baroda branches across India, serving on different posts such as Branch Head, Staff Training Faculty, Deputy Regional Manager and Regional Manager. Since last one year he is working as Deputy Chief Executive in Bank of Baroda, London.

Thangam started out as a professional cellist but for the last 25 years her main focus has been working locally, nationally and internationally to end domestic violence. She moved to Bristol to be Women’s Aid’s first ever National Children’s Officer, setting up support projects in refuges across the UK for children.

Virendra Sharma was elected as MP for Ealing Southall in a by-election in 2007. He was born in India and the grandfather-of-three came to Hanwell from India in 1968 and started out as a bus conductor on the 207 route before studying at University on a Trade Union Scholarship and working as a day services manager for people with learning disabilities in Hillingdon. He served as a councillor in Ealing for 25 years including as Mayor. Virendra now serves on the International Development Select Committee.  Virendra currently chairs the Indo-British APPG, the APPG for Gurkha Welfare, and is Co-Chair of the APPG on Nepal, the Tuberculosis Group, the Hepatitis Group and is Vice-Chair of the APPG for British Hindus.
