આસામમાં ‘કમળ’ ખીલ્યુંઃ મમતા ‘દીદી’ - જયા‘અમ્મા’નું પુનરામગન 19/05/2016 6:55 am Nilesh Parmar પાંચ રાજ્યો - આસામ, પશ્ચિમ બંગાળ, તામિલનાડુ, કેરળ અને પોંડિચેરી વિધાનસભા ચૂંટણીની આજે સવારથી હાથ ધરાયેલી મતગણતરીના પરિણામો ભાજપ માટે ઉત્સાહજનક છે તો કોંગ્રેસ માટે ભારે નિરાશાજનક છે. ભાજપે આસામમાં ઝળહળતો દેખાવ કરીને પૂર્વોત્તર ભારતમાં ભગવો લહેરાવ્યો છે. જ્યારે પશ્ચિમ બંગાળમાં મમતા બેનરજી અને તામિલનાડુમાં જયલલિતા સરકારના પુનરાગમન નિશ્ચિત મનાય છે. આસામ અને કેરળમાં સત્તા ગુમાવનાર કોંગ્રેસે ૩૦ બેઠકો ધરાવતા પોંડિચેરીમાં ડીએમકેના સહયોગમાં સરકાર રચીને સંતોષ માનવો પડશે. પાંચ રાજ્યોની કુલ ૮૨૪ બેઠકો માટે મતદાન થયું હતું. આસામમાં ભવ્ય વિજય સાથે જ ભાજપ પૂર્વોત્તર ભારતમાં પહેલી વખત સરકાર રચશે. રાજકીય વિશ્લેષકો આ વિજયને ભાજપ માટે ખૂબ જ મહત્ત્વનો ગણાવે છે. લોકસભામાં જ્વલંત વિજય બાદ યોજાયેલી દિલ્હી અને બિહાર વિધાનસભાની ચૂંટણીમાં ભાજપનો પરાજય થયો હતો. કોંગ્રેસે બે રાજ્યો - આસામ અને કેરળ ગુમાવ્યા છે, પણ પોંડિચેરીમાં ડીએમકેના સહયોગમાં સરકાર રચશે.

Popularly known as 'Le Bison' for his strong style of play on the pitch, Michael is also very active off the pitch with his charitable and humanitarian work. Through the Michael Essien Foundation, he has supported water projects, built sanitary facilities, introduced books to help improve literacy and sponsored many kids to learn different skills and vocations. As African Union Peace Ambassador, he instituted the 'Game of Hope,' a charity football game held biennially to help promote peace and security in Africa.
