ઐતિહાસિક બ્રેક્ઝિટ બિલ સંસદમાં ૪૯૮ વિ. ૧૧૪ મતથી પસાર 02/02/2017 4:31 am Achyut Sanghavi યુરોપિયન યુનિયનથી અળગા થવાના જનતાના ઐતિહાસિક રેફરન્ડમ પછી બ્રિટિશ સાંસદોએ બ્રેક્ઝિટ મુદ્દે આર્ટિકલ-૫૦ હેઠળ પ્રક્રિયા આરંભવાના થેરેસા સરકારના નિર્ણયને બ્રેક્ઝિટ બિલના હાઉસ ઓફ કોમન્સમાં બીજા વાચનમાં ૪૯૮ વિરુદ્ધ ૧૧૪ મતથી અનુમોદન આપ્યું છે. સુપ્રીમ કોર્ટે આ પ્રક્રિયા શરૂ કરવા પાર્લામેન્ટની મંજૂરી આવશ્યક હોવાનો ચુકાદો આપ્યાના પગલે સરકારે બ્રેક્ઝિટ બિલ રજૂ કર્યું હતું. પ્રથમ રીડિંગમાં એમેન્ડમેન્ટ્સ રજૂ કરી બિલને અવરોધવાના પ્રયાસને ૩૩૬ વિરુદ્ધ ૧૦૦ મતથી નિષ્ફળ બનાવાયો હતો. બિલનો વિરોધ કરનારાઓમાં લેબર, સ્કોટિશ નેશનલ પાર્ટી (SNP) અને લિબરલ ડેમોક્રેટ્સના સભ્યોનો સમાવેશ થાય છે. બિલને ટેકો આપવાના લેબર નેતા જેરેમી કોર્બીનના વ્હીપને અવગણી ૪૭ સાંસદોએ વિરુદ્ધ મતદાન કરતા લગભગ બળવા જેવી પરિસ્થિતિ સર્જાઈ છે. આ સંસદીય બહાલીના પગલે હવે બ્રેક્ઝિટ પ્રક્રિયાનો સત્તાવાર આરંભ નવ માર્ચથી કરાશે.
