મુંબઇને હરાવી ગુજરાત પ્રથમ વખત રણજી ચેમ્પિયન 16/01/2017 12:14 pm Nilesh Parmar કેપ્ટન પાર્થિવ પટેલના નેતૃત્વ હેઠળની ગુજરાતની ટીમે ૪૧ વખતના ચેમ્પિયન મુંબઇને હરાવી પહેલી વખત રણજી ટ્રોફી ટાઇટલ જીત્યું છે. પાર્થિવ પટેલે કેપ્ટન ઇનિંગ્સ રમતાં વિષમ પરિસ્થતિમાં નોંધાવેલી સદીની મદદથી ગુજરાતે મુંબઈને પાંચ વિકેટે પરાજય આપ્યો હતો. ગુજરાતને આ ગૌરવ અપાવનાર પાર્થિવ પટેલે ૨૪ ચોગ્ગા સાથે ઝમકદાર ૧૪૩ રન ફટકાર્યા હતા. વિજય માટે મળેલા ૩૧૨ રનના લક્ષ્યાંકને ગુજરાતે પાંચ વિકેટના ભોગે હાંસલ કરીને મેચના પાંચમા અને અંતિમ દિવસ ૧૩ જાન્યુઆરીએ ઐતિહાસિક જીત મેળવી હતી. આ સાથે જ ગુજરાતની ટીમ રણજી ટ્રોફીમાં ચેમ્પિયન બનનાર ૧૬મી ટીમ બની છે. ગુજરાત આ પહેલાં ૧૯૫૦-૫૧માં રણજી ટ્રોફીની ફાઇનલમાં પહોંચી હતી તે વખતે હોલકર (અત્યારના મધ્ય પ્રદેશની) ટીમ સામે પરાજય થયો હતો. રણજી ટ્રોફીના ઇતિહાસમાં માત્ર બીજી વખત ફાઇનલમાં પહોંચલી ગુજરાતને ૩૧૨ રનનો જંગી ટાર્ગેટ મળ્યો હતો.
