એડિલેડઃ ભારતના ક્રિકેટચાહકોને રવિવારે લગભગ બે મહિના બાદ સારા સમાચાર મળ્યા. ઓસ્ટ્રેલિયા પ્રવાસ દરમિયાન સતત નબળો દેખાવ કરી રહેલી ટીમ ઇંડિયાએ કટ્ટર પ્રતિસ્પર્ધી પાકિસ્તાનને ૭૬ રને હરાવીને વર્લ્ડ કપમાં વિજયી પ્રારંભ કર્યો છે. લાંબા સમયથી ક્રિકેટચાહકો આ દિલધડક મુકાબલાની રાહ જોઇ રહ્યા હતા. એક અંદાજ પ્રમાણે આશરે એક અબજ લોકોએ ટીવી પરદે આ મેચ નિહાળી હતી.
