Congress politician and author Shashi Tharoor was visiting London to participate in the Empire debate at the Supreme Court on Thursday 18 September by the Indo British heritage trust to mark the 400^th anniversary of the two country's relations.

લંડનઃ બ્રિટિશ વડા પ્રધાન ડેવિડ કેમરને યુએન સિક્યુરિટી કાઉન્સિલને સંબોધતા ISIS સામે યુદ્ધ લડવા માટે શસ્ત્રસજ્જ થવાની હાકલ કરી છે. કેમરને જણાવ્યું હતું કે મનોવિકૃત ત્રાસવાદીઓની ગંભીર ધમકીને બ્રિટન નજરઅંદાજ કરી શકે નહીં. આ ત્રાસવાદીઓ બ્રિટન માટે પણ જોખમરૂપ છે. કેમરનની હાકલને સંસદનું પણ સમર્થન સાંપડ્યું છે. હાઉસ ઓફ કોમન્સમાં બ્રિટિશ સાંસદોએ ૫૨૪ વિરુદ્ધ ૪૩ મતથી ઈરાકમાં લશ્કરી કાર્યવાહી કરવાની તરફેણમાં મત આપ્યો છે. હવે બ્રિટન ઈરાકમાં ISISના ત્રાસવાદીઓ સામે હવાઈ હુમલામાં સામેલ થશે. કેમરને ઈરાકમાં હુમલાની મંજૂરી મેળવવા પાર્લામેન્ટની ઈમર્જન્સી બેઠક બોલાવી હતી.

લંડનઃ ઈસ્લામિક ત્રાસવાદ સામેની ઝૂંબેશના ભાગરૂપે ૨૫ સપ્ટેમ્બરની સવારે પાડવામાં આવેલા દરોડામાં ૪૭ વર્ષીય કટ્ટરવાદી ઉપદેશક અંજેમ ચૌધરી અને મુસ્લિમ એક્ટિવિસ્ટ અબુ ઈઝાદીન ઉર્ફે ટ્રેવર બ્રૂક્સ સહિત નવ વ્યક્તિની પોલીસે ધરપકડ કરી હતી. આ ઉપરાંત, લંડન અને સ્ટોક-ઓન-ટ્રેન્ટમાં ૧૯ નિવાસી, બિઝનેસ અને કોમ્યુનિટી પ્રીમાઈસિસની પણ તપાસ કરાઈ હોવાનું સ્કોટલેન્ડ યાર્ડે જણાવ્યું હતું. આ તપાસનું કેન્દ્ર અલ-મુહાજિરોન હોવાનું મનાય છે.

સ્કોટલેન્ડે જનમતમાં આઝાદી નકારી હોવાના સમાચાર ટેલિફોન પર જાણીને ક્વીન એલિઝાબેથે આનંદોલ્લાસભર્યા ઉદગાર વ્યક્ત કર્યા હતા. વડા પ્રધાન ડેવિડ કેમરને આ જાણકારી આપી હતી. જોકે કેમરનની આ ટીપ્પણી રાણીની રાજકીય તટસ્થતા માટે ક્ષોભજનક બની રહે તેવી શક્યતા હોવાથી વડા પ્રધાન પોતાની આ ટીપ્પણી અંગે રાણીની માફી માગે તેવી ધારણા છે. કેમરન ન્યૂ યોર્કના પૂર્વ મેયર માઈકલ બ્લૂમબર્ગ સમક્ષ આ ટીપ્પણી કરતા કેમેરામાં ઝડપાઈ ગયા હતા. બ્રિટનની રાજકીય પરંપરા અનુસાર પ્રધાનોએ રાણી સાથેની તમામ ચર્ચાઓ ગુપ્ત રાખવાની હોય છે.
