Couples in England and Wales will be able to legally marry at locations such as their homes, pubs and cruise ships under the biggest overhaul of wedding laws in nearly 200 years.

The reforms aim to replace outdated venue rules, giving couples more flexibility and making weddings more accessible.
Under the proposals, couples could legally marry in locations such as castles, beaches and cruise ships, provided the ceremony is conducted by an approved officiant. However, ceremonies considered to trivialise marriage, such as skydiving weddings, would not be allowed under a proposed "dignity framework." The changes would also ease restrictions on religious content and allow non-religious groups to conduct legal weddings.

ન્યૂયોર્કમાં થયેલા અકસ્માતમાં પોતાનો દીકરો ગુમાવનાર ભારતીય પરિવારે 105 મિલિયન ડોલરનો દાવો માંડ્યો છે. અમેરિકા ફરવા ગયેલો ભારતીય પરિવાર જૂન 2026માં સેન્ટ્રલ પાર્કમાં ઘોડાગાડીમાં બેઠો હતો તે દરમિયાન ઘોડાગાડી ચાલક પરિવારનો ફોટો લેવા નીચે ઉતર્યો ત્યારે ઘોડો ભડકીને દોડવા લાગતાં સર્જાયેલા અકસ્માતમાં બગીમાંથી પડી જવાથી રોમાંચ મહાજનનું મોત થયું હતું. 

ઇંગ્લેન્ડમાં દિવ્યાંગો માટે 24 કલાક મફત બસ પ્રવાસની જાહેરાત કરવામાં આવી છે, જે આગામી એપ્રિલ 2027થી અમલમાં આવશે.

એ-લેવલ પરિણામોના રેકોર્ડ વર્ષમાં વિદ્યાર્થીઓએ વિદ્યાર્થિનીઓને પછડાટ આપી છે. આ વર્ષે રેકોર્ડ સંખ્યામાં વિદ્યાર્થીઓને યુનિવર્સિટી કોર્સમાં પ્રવેશ મળ્યો છે, પરંતુ પરિણામોમાં પ્રાદેશિક અસમાનતામાં પણ વધારો જોવા મળ્યો છે. કુલ પરીક્ષાર્થીઓમાંથી 9.6 ટકાએ A* ગ્રેડ મેળવ્યો છે. વિદ્યાર્થીઓમાં 10.3 ટકાએ A* પ્રાપ્ત કર્યો, જ્યારે વિદ્યાર્થિનીઓમાં આ પ્રમાણ 9.2 ટકા રહ્યું છે. 

15 ઓગસ્ટ શનિવારના રોજ લંડન સ્થિત ભારતીય હાઇ કમિશન ખાતે પરંપરાગત ધ્વજવંદન કાર્યક્રમનું આયોજન કરાયું હતું.
